"La Cave" offers an open-plan kitchen lounge diner and is very well equipped with gas cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, and both gites have feature fireplaces with woodburners.

The handicapped or wheelchair user has been specially considered in this cottage with its spacious single-level, open plan kitchen, diner and lounge. All the kitchen facilities are low level.

The ground floor double bedroom room has an adjacent shower room and w.c. Again these facilities have the spacious access needed for wheelchairs (including the wetroom shower).

There is easy, level access through French doors of the cottage onto the south-facing patio, with patio furniture and barbecue. There is also ample off road parking.

On site we offer several facilities such as table tennis.

Surrounded by woodland and its own grounds of twenty acres (8ha), the farm stands at the far end of a 1 mile (1.5km) long crescent lane, providing the ideal location to unwind.

No traffic - there are only three family properties in the lane. No noise - only the sounds of nature. No light pollution - on a clear summer's evening you see all the stars, you will not believe how many. No busy suburbia - from the patio, an open, south facing view across the lawn and meadows. No stress - a warm summer's evening on the patio, sipping wine, watching the sun set and the stars decorate the sky, imagine, this is nature at its best.

Places of interest

In summer, all towns in France are bedecked with flowers in every corner and here is no exception. Avessac, the local village, is just 8km away with its boulangeries plus mini-supermarket and bars. Travel just 12 kms to the west and you come to the town of Redon, a major crossroads between Brittany and the Western Loire. Here the River Vilaine is crossed by the Nantes-Brest Canal and the popular marina is home to many sailing visitors.

On Mondays the market fills the town as well as an indoor fish market and food hall. Try the Breton specialities of galettes and crepes (savoury and sweet pancakes), a freshly spit-roasted chicken or even paella. Travel further afield by taking the TGV (high-speed train) from Redon to Paris for a quick day trip. In October, the sweet chestnut is celebrated here in style (fete de marron).

Also just 12km away but to the east is Guémené Penfao alongside the River Don, smaller but equally charming with its floral displays and little bits of antiquated charm. It is easy to make arrangements here for numerous activities including canoeing, golf and cycle hire, or more locally there is a potter to visit.

Try the swimming pools at either town, both new in 2001, or visit the local lakes for swimming and wind-surfing, especially at Plessé with its man made beach. Excellent.

Exceptionally popular is go-karting which is also very close by and it is possible to arrange activities such as horse-riding, farm visits and canoeing. A vast collection of 300plus fine automobiles can be found to the north, in the Manoir de l'Automobile at Lohéac.

Then of course there's the children: a popular day out with the dinosaurs at Parc de Prehistoire de Bretagne or visit the beautiful beaches just 30 minutes away at La Baule and Pénestin.

Megaliths are another local feature, many of which can be found at Carnac and St Just. Not to be missed is the mediaeval town of Vannes with its beautiful shops and restaurants plus the picturesque Chateau. Or perhaps explore the German U-boat pens at St Nazaire now home to a French submarine and other war-time features. All of these are just 40 minutes away.

La Gacilly and Rochefort-en-Terre are worth a visit too; both villages have the rustic charm of cobbled streets and numerous craft shops, some with their craftsmen demonstrating their skills on site.

Local facilities

The towns of Redon and Guémené Penfao are equally 8 miles away where one can arrange numerous activities including canal boating, golf.
