Ty Griffett is our own luxury longere which we let out when not in use by the family. The house is light and airy, with a very large open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Two sets of rustic polished wooden open-tread stairs lead to the master bedroom and the mezzanine.
The lounge has a vaulted ceiling with immediate WOW factor as you walk in the door. The focal point is the stone wall and wood burning stove, just in case the evenings are a bit cool. There are two large sofas and chairs, so plenty of seating for everyone.
The kitchen is very well appointed with a stainless steel range cooker with wok burner, microwave/oven/grill, washing machine and full size dishwasher. There is ample crockery and cutlery for 12 settings.
The dining area has a large oak table and benches that easily seats eight people or more.
On the mezzanine is a comfy day-bed settee, a 2/3 seater settee, a large TV and a Playstation II. There is a large library of more than 200 films, and a few games, bring your own favourite. Wireless internet connection if you feel the need to contact the outside world.
The beamed master bedroom upstairs is a haven of tranquility, a 6ft very comfortable bed, French style furniture and an armoire. There is an en-suite shower room with luxury contemporary fittings.
Downstairs there are two further light and airy beautiful bedrooms. One a twin with two very comfortable single beds, the other a double with beautiful antique French bed. Both rooms have ample storage.
The family bathroom is downstairs, again fitted with luxury contemporary fittings.
Outside is an extensive one acre well maintained grassed garden. A small pool surrounded by decks for relaxing. The house is well equipped with barbecue, tables and chairs, for alfresco dining and loungers for relaxing around the pool.
Ty Griffett is a NO smoking property.
We have just got back from a lovely holiday in France and wanted to thank you for allowing us to use your wonderful home - Jean Asworth April 2010
Looking at all the photographs of the renovation work it is had to believe your foresight in taking on such a task. But what a beautiful cottage and I loved your taste in decor. You must be very proud of it all.
Ty Griffett is set in a rural location but only 5kms from supermarkets, bread shops, restaurants, bars. Pontivy is the closest town and with it's shops, restaurants, timbered houses, cobbled street, chateau and the Market on a Monday morning makes it well worth a visit.
The closest coastal area is the Gulf du Morbihan is approximately a 40 minutes drive. Vannes is an historic harbour town with a fantastic selection of shops, restaurants, seafood restaurants along the harbour front. The market here on Saturday morning has local produce stalls selling fresh veg, fruit, meats, fish, cakes everything for the real French experience. Carnac with its gently slopping, sheltered beaches and the famous Standing Stones is very good for families. Quiberon for water sports. There are numerous islands in the Gulf du Morbihan reached by various ferries and worth a day out.
There is so much history in the area - chateaux, churches, medieval towns and Carnac's prehistoric standing stones just to name a few.
The area is very good for walking or cycling along the country roads, along the Blavet or canal tow paths, around the lakes at Guerladan and Lac du Lac. There are miles of coastal paths around the Gulf du Morbihan.
Bowling, Pontivy. Karting is available just outside Plumeliau. Camours, a forest adventure park, fun for all the family, tree top ladder, swings, slides. Poul Fetan and Melrand, a living museum village preserving the farming practices and crafts from the 19th century rural Brittany.
There is a market in one town or another every day of the week.
