Le Belvedere' is unique to the Valley and was built over 300 years ago, since when it has been a government building, local council house, school, and private residence. The wooden staircase is heritage listed for its unique construction as it is entirely free standing without vertical support beams. The magnificent staircase is still in its original state and, with minor restoration work, stands as strong as at the time it was built.
The house is built from stone and chestnut wood and is finished in walnut. It features built-in walnut cupboards and doors mostly in their original state that have seen over 300 years with very little restoration work needed. The floors in the master bedroom are still in their original state and are made of chestnut parquetry.
The pool, terrace and barbecue area is yours to enjoy. The pool (10m x 5m) has decking with deck chairs for your comfort and the terrace area is fitted with a barbecue to enjoy those wonderful summer evenings and spectacular views of the mountains.
Spring at Le Belvedere is truly breathtaking. The garden comes alive with colour and fragrance that lasts through summer. Autumn offers up a spectacular display of olds, reds and browns, while winter transforms Le Belvedere into a beautiful snow covered hideaway. Any time of the year is truly magical.
Food and wine are at the heart of the people of the French Pyrenees and certainly look no further than Vallees des Gaves for unique and wonderful local specialities that can be enjoyed in this magnificent dining room. Our dining room seats 10 people however it can seat 12 - 14 comfortably. You do not need visit restaurants to enjoy French cuisine - be adventurous prepare the meals yourself and enjoy and relish in the wonder of French cuisine and wine.
Warmed in winter by the massive open fireplace and in summer the Grand Salon opens on to the terrace overlooking the magical Haute Pyrenees. The Grand Salon is the heart of the house where you can enjoy wonderful evenings in summer or winter with a glass of wine and wonderful friends.
You may want to eat in one of the many wonderful local restaurants - however who could not resist the temptation to test your skills on the wonderful and tasty array of local French Pyrennean produce. Cook to your heart's and your guests' content in your own French kitchen.
Want to relax and catch up on the news from home or keep the kids entertained with a DVD or board game? With over 200 Cable channels and a selection of DVDs in multi languages (usually French and English) we are sure that your entertainment needs and those of your children will be catered to.
A charmingly beautiful bedroom, in warm golds and burgundies, to rest after enjoying the excitement and beauty of the Haute Pyrenees - it is said that people sleep soundly and restfully in the mountains. This room comes with an adjoining sitting room and en-suite bathroom.
These two rooms provide stunning views from the top level of the house across the expansive valleys below. Charmingly furnished in antiques each room has a double and single bed with en-suite bathrooms.
This room is comfortably furnished for either children or adults and also has an adjoining bathroom en-suite. Please note that all bedrooms on the first and second floor are accessible by stairs only.
