Close to Ceret and situated in an idyllic valley setting, Mas Pallares is a 500 year old farmhouse which just oozes character and charm with its old beams, exposed stone, arches and barrel ceilings. The Vallespir itself is a region of great natural beauty. It is an, as yet, undiscovered paradise where mountains tumble down to greet the sea. Medieval villages and abbeys abound. The lovely, arty Collioure and the glorious beaches and fishing villages of the Cote Vermeille are but a short drive away (less than 30 mins). The beaches of the Costa Brava are just 45 mins. The GR10 (trans-Pyrenean footpath) is close-by. So, whether trekking, sailing, swimming, exploring the rich cultural history, or strolling through the charming old town of Ceret, there is something to suit all tastes.

La Petite Maison is a two storey 'little house' within the farmhouse. There are three bedrooms, two shower rooms, a large living room with kitchen diner. Le Vallespir is a first floor apartment with balcony (with outdoor furniture) and a large roof terrace with lovely views of the surrounding hills and valley beyond. Two main bedrooms (a twin and a double) with a small bunk room for small children off the double bedroom. Access to the balcony is from the double bedroom and living room, whlst access to roof terrace is from living room and twin bedroom. French TV/DVD. Free wifi. - 495€ - 1495€ pw.

La Cave is a most atmospheric converted wine cave on the garden level. Stone arches, barrel ceilings and even some exposed rock make this a most interesting summer venue. Direct access to garden, pool, and two private terraces and barbecue Two bedrooms - a double and a twin. TV and wifi. - 495€ - 1125€ pw.

La Glycine is a spacious ground floor apartment with original wooden beams in the living room. 3 bedrooms (2 twin and one double). Private terraces, moring, afternoon and evening sun. Very spacious. Ideal for a family. 495€ to 1495 per week. French TV/DVD. Free wifi.

La Terrasse Spacious one bedroomed apartment with pretty covered terrasse. and a new large terrace with views accessed from bedroom. A great favourite with couples but would also sleep a further two at a push. 435€ to 895€ per week.

Area information

Mas Pallares is situated close to Ceret in the Pyrenees Orientales, and a short distance from the spa town of Amelie les Bains. The nearest large town is Perpignan. The nearest motorway (A9 to Barcelona) exit is no 43 at Le Boulou. The Mediterranean is but 30 minutes away and the Spanish border just 20 minutes.

Walking, cycling, sailing, diving, ski-ing are just some of the more active leisure pursuits available in our area. For lovers of nature the Vallespir offers a wealth of flora and fauna, including rare butterflies and birds, forests of cork oak and chestnut and amazing gorges. It is historically and culturally rich offering a wealth of castles, abbeys and Romanesque architecture.

Eating out

There are good restaurants in Ceret and the surrounding villages. The nearby village of Le Pont de Reynes has two restaurants and there are others nearby.
