Elegant town and country bed and breakfast and two self catering gites offering beautifully appointed, spacious rooms. Perfect for singles, couples and family holidays - set in private parkland and gardens of four acres, including a salt water heated swimming pool, private parking, large gardens leading to our kitchen gardens, fruit trees and a small wood - all just a stroll from the village square with a gourmet restaurant, two family restaurants, as well as a bistro restaurant in a micro-brewery.

The pool area is equipped with loungers for sunbathers, a solar heated shower and, at night, subtle lighting adds to the magic of the evening.

All rooms are spacious and light, with sparkling en-suite shower rooms and wcs and are individually and elegantly decorated. Soft, high quality duvets and pillows provide a comfortable night's sleep.

A Continental breakfast is included in our chambres d'hotes rates. At only 28 euros per adult and 18 euros per child, you have the option of a freshly prepared four course table d'hote evening meal including wine. On warm evenings, dinner is usually served in the garden.

The charming 'Marguerite' Gite comprises a private patio/garden furnished with garden tables and chairs and own barbecue, leading to the ground floor open living area:

- Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, washing machine - Breakfast table - Comfortable sofa and armchairs, and television with DVD/video player.

Upstairs comprises a master bedroom with double bed, plus a triple bedroom with 3 single beds. Unusually for a gite, there is the luxury of an en-suite shower/bath room and wc for each bedroom.

All guests enjoy the unique combination of the peace and beauty of the countryside, just two minutes walk from our gates to the thriving town square of Neuville-de-Poitou. Here, one of the best markets in Vienne is held every Sunday morning. Village shops include patisseries, butchers, delicatessens, a newsagent, pharmacies, banks and restaurants, including 'St Fortunat', renowned for its excellent cuisine.

The fabulous Gite 'l'Atelier' also sleeps 5 people, but is larger than 'Marguerite', with separate dining room, kitchen and sitting room.

You have complimentary wifi internet access throughout the property.

Futuroscope (12km), a fantastic state-of-the-art media theme park, with imax screens and much more, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in France.

Poitiers (15km) the ancient and historic city known as 'La Ville d'Artes et Musee' is a university town and capital city of Poitou-Charente, famous for some of the oldest Roman architecture in France. The covered market is also well worth a visit.

La Rochelle (90 minutes) with its quaint ancient harbour, many seafood restaurants and famous Aquarium.

The Cote Sauvage, or Wild Coast, (90 minutes). Wide white sandy beaches, stretching as far as the eye can see.

The Loire Valley (45 minutes). Home to fairytale chateaux and magnificent vineyards. The charming town of Chinon is 45 minutes away and a perfect base to have lunch and explore the enchanting chateaux and historical architecture. See the Leonardo da Vinci's last home (in Amboise), including many fascinating models of his inventions.

Marais Poitevin, the Green Venice (1 hour) where you can explore the waterways by flat boat, floating past enchanting scenery and enjoy the wild life, particularly the prolific birdlife.

Golf: There are four golf courses in beautiful estates within 20/30 minutes of La Roseraie, two of them being championship golf courses.

Gastronomy and Wine. There is a great selection of good and inexpensive restaurants in Poitiers and the local area, including an excellent gourmet restaurant in our village of Neuville-de-Poitou.

Historical castles include Touffou, Dissay and Gencay.

Visit the stunningly beautiful Royal Abbey of Fontevraud and its gardens. Here are the tombs of Henri II, Eleanor of Acquitaine and Richard the Lionheart.

The 'Haut Cave' in Neuville-de-Poitou is the centre for the excellent locally-produced wines and the friendly staff will arrange for tastings.

University of Poitiers - We are perfectly located for visitors to the University of Poitiers for a few days or longer. Avoid soulless chain hotels and instead, reserve spacious, elegant and comfortable accommodation at La Roseraie, which is only 10 minutes to Futuroscope (and its convention centres) and 20 minutes to Poitiers itself.

Area information

La Roseraie is truly country home with one foot in the town. With 4 acres of gardens and parkland, the surroundings are tranquil and birdsong can be heard all day and in the evenings. Yet, within two minutes' walking, one can find the thriving village square of Neuville-de-Poitou, with all the amenities including bakeries, restaurants, pharmacies, doctors and, near to the square, two supermarkets. In addition, we have a micro-brewery and the Haut Cave is the headquarters of the regions wine industry. Close to the route national A10, we are central to the Loire Valley and La Rochelle, whilst the charm of the villages of Vienne and the historic city of Poitiers are on our doorstep, including the media theme park "Futuroscope". Also a perfect stop-off point between Calais or Paris and Bordeaux.

Local attractions

Guests can visit the Loire Valley with its fairytale chateaux, the old seaside town of La Rochelle and the historic city of Poitiers. Angles sur l'Anglin is one of the prettiest villages in France and the Marais Poitivin (also known as The Green Venice) is a magical area of marshes and birdlife. Golfers are well served, with four excellent courses, and there are good municipal tennis courts in the village.


Freshly prepared each day, our varied and popular tables d'hotes evening menu consists of an entree, main course, selection of cheeses and desert. For adults, a pichet of wine is included in the price.

Or stroll to the village where the fabulous St Fortunat Restaurant offers fine dining in the best French tradition. There is also a choice of good, family-style restaurants our local area.
