This converted village house is situated in the old part of Marseillan, a typical Bas-Languedoc port located on the Etang de Thau, whose principal income has traditionally derived from oyster-farming and wine-growing in the surrounding vineyards.

The house is a few steps away from a boulangerie with the delicious aroma of fresh croissants wafting over in the morning. The market place and shops are a short walk from the house and the market is held every Tuesday. A little further on is the harbour, overlooked by the Noilly Prat establishment, which offers guided tours of the premises. There are several excellent restaurants and the local seafood specialties are well complemented by the region's Picpoul de Pinet varieties of white wine.

At 5km from the town, Marseillan-Plage marks the start of 20km of unspoilt beach, as well as the southern limit of the picturesque Canal du Midi, ideal for boating and cycling. Mountain-bikes can be hired cheaply at Marseillan-Plage. The Etang de Thau is known for its abundant wild-bird life, notably the flocks of pink flamingos which winter there every year. Marseillan is also a good base for visiting the historic towns of Pezenas, Beziers and Lodeve to the north and west.

On the ground floor there is a kitchen/dining room area with a store-room in which bicycles can be stored. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is a CD player with a selection of music provided and an internet access point.

The first floor has a small sitting-room (with balcony view down rue Ledru-Rollin) which is equipped with international satellite and British TV channels. There is also a bedroom with two single beds, and a bathroom with shower and wc.

The second floor has a further double bedroom with French windows leading onto the terrace/sunroof. There is also a bathroom with bath/shower, bidet, wc and washing machine.

The house is equipped with air conditioning nd heating inverter units on each floor.

Please note that the accommodation is not suitable for elderly or handicapped guests or those with very young children because of steep stairs.
