Lamartine

Comfortable and secluded gite on our nine-acre estate set in in the heart of Gascony in Caillavet, near Vic-Fezensac. This region is known as little Tuscany because of the beautiful vistas of rolling hills and fields of sunflowers. An ideal location to use as a base to explore this unspoilt region of France or to simply relax by the pool or in your private garden. It is also a great base to use for house hunting.

The Accommodation

Chalet style studio with bedroom, lounge, and kitchen with dining area, also a shower room with toilet. Access via patio doors to the covered terrace and a secluded garden with views over open countryside.

The kitchen has a gas cooker with oven and grill, and a fridge. Laundry facilities are available at our house.

The garden is equipped with furniture and a barbecue. You have use of our 16 x 6 metre floodlit pool with covered terrace, barbecue area and sun beds.

Price includes electricity, gas, constant hot water, and linen if required.

The area

Gascony is perfect for food and wine lovers. There are superb and affordable restaurants and many places to taste and buy locally produced fois gras, wine and Armagnac.

For the sightseers, the villages, towns and chateaux nearby offer a wealth of history, interest and lazy days searching the local markets and bric-a-brac shops. The Pyrenees, Lourdes, Pau, Tarbes and Toulouse are all within an hour and a half's drive. Marciac, famous for it's international jazz festival, is less than an hour away.

Local Amenities

Our nearest towns are Vic-Fezensac (8 kilometres) and Auch (18 kilometres). Both have excellent supermarkets and facilities for your every day needs.

Vic-Fezensac is host to many festivals throughout the year including bull fighting, Latin American dancing and night markets.

In Auch you can visit the superb Cathedral or stroll along the impressive River Gers, from which this department takes its name.

There are also lots of opportunities for riding, walking, fishing and bird watching nearby.

Access

There are regular flights from most major UK airports to Toulouse and Ryanair flights from Stanstead to Pau-Pyréneés. Lamartine is within an hour and a half's drive from each airport.

By car, Lamartine is 8-10 hours' drive from Calais. The last hour of the journey is on local roads, which is a pleasant way to ease you in to a different pace of life.
