The Lot et Garonne is an area in South West France offering beautiful scenery, historic towns and villages, day & night markets, entertainment, excellent food and a selection of very reasonably priced wines. Our delightful country house nestles between Aiguillon (13th century medieval town) and Clairac. The bustling town of Agen and Villeneuve sur Lot are just thirty minutes away. We have gathered together over 100 hundred Tourist brochure's from different area's for you to browse through at your leaisure enabling you to plan your weeks activities or just "chill" out in your delightful surroundings.

Accommodation

Available throughout the long summer months. Your gite (apartment), within our delightful country house will give you a feel of home from home", comfort and privacy, allowing you to enjoy a most relaxing holiday. Rooms maintain an ambient temperature even on the hottest day. Views overlook our 19 acres and 2 acre well stocked fishing lake and small boat. These facilities are free to use, we have no hidden charges. It is peaceful and quiet, but not isolated.

The private self-contained suite of three rooms within our lovely country house has its own independent entrance and hallway. All accommodation is at ground level, (no steps) and comprises a spacious lounge/ dining room with kitchen area (fully equipped), fridge, microwave, hob, 1 double bedroom and a fully fitted shower room. For summer, windows are fitted with mosquito nets. Terrestrial TV 5 channels and DVD. All rooms have central heating. If you have need of another en- suite bedroom this is available in the main house, discuss. The accommodation being on ground level is wheelchair friendly discuss your needs. Important - your gite is fitted with smoke detector, fire blanket and fire extinguisher. Free wireless access.

Your accommodation has a beautiful independent garden area with mature trees, own barbecue, sun loungers, permanent shaded gazebo with table and chairs. You are welcome to stroll around the grounds that include our private well-stocked 2 acre lake and try your skills at fishing. Pick your own fruit from the orchard, enjoy.

Local Area

Marvelous museums of the automatons, of the foie gras, prunes and many others, caves, workshop of arts and historic towns and villages, day and night markets (with music), entertainment, excellent food and a selection of very reasonably priced wines. All this within easy reach on quiet roads.

The River Lot and the Garonne is available for fishing,(both within easy reach). The River Lot itself is massive, stretching through the Pyrenees. Last season not far from here a 22kg carp was caught. The fish normally caught in the river include Pike/Perch, Catfish, Pike, Chub, Perch, Bream, Black Bass, Barbel, Roach and Carp, for which it is very popular. Anglers say the best time for Carp is April to June and September to mid October. Being fairly far South we can experience some very pleasant weather during the autumn.

Bookings are normally from Saturday to Saturday, but we will consider mid-week arrivals  if you are planning to stay for more than a week as travel is so much cheaper mid-week.

Should your preferred arrival date coincide with guests already at Gone Fishin' and if there's only one or two days that are the same as, then we're able to accommodate you for those nights (in our stopover en-suite guest bedroom in the main house) to allow you more flexibility.

This idea has worked well for a number of years and at no times interferes with the privacy of guest in the self catering-gite. Please do not hesitate to discuss.

Access from the UK is easy, by car via the autoroute, by train to Marmande, Aiguillon or Agen (we are happy to collect you from Aiguillon station) or by air to the airports of Bordeaux, Bergerac ,Toulouse, Pau then just hire a car and follow a very easy route. Approx 15 minutes from exit 6 at Damazan on the A62. (Detailed map to house).

Change-over day is usually Saturday, but as said we are often happy to accommodate mid week as travel is so much cheaper , arrivals from 4 pm /departures by 10 am. A £100 non-refundable deposit required with the Booking to secure your accommodation booking. Confirmation of your booking will be sent to you by e-mail or by post within 2 weeks of receiving your deposit. The balance in full must be received 8 weeks prior to arrival date and to include £50.00 returnable deposit against breakages and to persuade you to leave the gite in a good state. We offer no hiked price for high or mid-season. Just one fair price right through the summer season. We offer to you - that should you book in 2010 for your 2011 holiday the charge will be less per week. Please see an explanation in the tariff information
